History of the RQW Heavyweight Championship

The RQW Heavyweight Championship was created in 2006 for the newly-relaunched Real Quality Wrestling. British wrestling legend Robbie Brookside became the first RQW Heavyweight Champion when he defeated former WWE and WCW cruiserweight star Billy Kidman on April 28 in Eastleigh, Hampshire.

The RQW Heavyweight Championship was later vacated when Robbie Brookside was unable to defend the title in the time period required. As a result, a one-night tournament was scheduled to crown a new titleholder that featured representatives from all of Real Quality Wrestling's member organisations. Martin Stone emerged as the new champion, defeating Pac in the finals on December 16, 2006 at the historic York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.

After almost two years as the reigning RQW Heavyweight Champion, Martin Stone's reign as champion came to an end in the form of Ulf Herman, a near-seven foot, 300-pound heavyweight wrestler from Germany. Herman took the title in a "winner takes all" match in his native homeland when he put his ACW championship on the line against Martin Stone. In the historic match—that took place on February 9, 2008 in Wienheim, Baden-Württemberg—Herman lifted both titles in the cross-promoted event with Athletik Club Wrestling.
